Every Wednesday in June from 6–8 p.m. at the swimming pool
We're bringing back a MVW tradition that's been on pause for a couple of years: Wine Down Wednesdays! Grab a neighbor and head to the swimming pool for an evening nightcap, from 6–8 p.m. every Wednesday in June. Men and women are welcome to join the fun. We'll provide a few cans of wine, but feel free to bring your own drink (no glass bottles, please). See you there!

The MVW swimming pool is now open!
The pool has been spruced up thanks to Pool Chair Paul McCabe, who worked diligently during the off-season to oversee installation of a new pool deck and a plumbing project that switched our pool house from septic to sewer. The pool is now open for the summer!

A reminder of the pool rules...
To keep the swimming pool safe and enjoyable for Association members, please keep a few things in mind this summer.
Pool hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Use of the pool is always "swim at your own risk." Lifeguards will be on duty during the weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. All other hours will be unsupervised. Please be careful!
Use of the pool is open to Mount Vernon Woods Community Association members who are current on their 2025 dues. A key fob is required to unlock the gate. If you have trouble with your key fob or need a new one, contact pool chair Paul McCabe. Please do not open the gate for anyone who does not have a key fob.
Minors must be accompanied and supervised at all times.
Bathrooms will be locked overnight and on days when a lifeguard is not on duty. The code is 2 + 4 (pushed at the same time), then 3. Please close the bathroom doors when you leave if no one else is at the pool.
We do not use outside help to clean up the pool deck. Make sure to pick up after yourself and dispose of all trash before you go, especially food and drinks, to keep insects and other pests at bay.

Mount Vernon School stadium lights denied
At the January 21, 2025 Sandy Springs City Council meeting, the Mount Vernon School’s application to install lights on their athletic field was denied. You can read a Rough Draft article with a recap of the meeting by clicking here.
Many MVW neighbors devoted time and energy to advocating on behalf of our neighborhood. Thank you for voicing your opinion, attending meetings, and staying engaged with this issue for more than a year. Our collective efforts were successful. Thank you!
If you have a yard sign, you are welcome to take it down but please do not throw it away. You can store it if you’re able or drop it off on the front porch at 6485 Williamson.
Amenity improvements: new swimming pool deck
We've recently completed a big project at the swimming pool: a refreshed concrete deck. Crews fixed low spots and cracks and laid a fresh deck around the pool and baby pool. The finished project looks great! Special thanks to Paul McCabe, our pool chairperson, who headed up this complicated project, and Jan Hodgson, who lent her design expertise to the decision-making process.
Amenity improvements: resurfaced courts, refreshed bathrooms
Keeping our neighborhood amenities in great shape is a high priority, so we’re happy to share that recently:
The bathrooms at our tennis and pickleball courts have been improved with fresh paint and new cabinets.
Drainage issues surrounding the courts have been resolved and the walkways now have fresh rock.
The work to resurface and reline the courts has been completed.
